Angelina Jolie Set to Star as 'Gertrude Bell'

As first reported in the Hollywood Reporter, actress Angelina Jolie is set to star in the upcoming biopic of Gertrude Bell, a 20th century pioneer who is often described as "the female Lawrence of Arabia". Bell had a strong influence in the development of what has become the modern-day Middle East. She chronicled her travels throughout the male dominated world of the Ottoman Empire. Ridley Scott's Scott Free Productions will be behind the film.

According to the Reporter, Scott is also considering directing the film. The screenplay will be written by Jeffrey Caine.

Angelina Jolie will be making her directorial debut next month with the upcoming film 'In the Land of Blood and Honey'. Her upcoming projects include Disney's 'Maleficent' and a sequel to her successful action film 'Salt'.
