The Venetian & The Palazzo Las Vegas VP Jack Easdale Receives UNLV Mentor of the Year Award

By: Mar. 25, 2015

The Venetian and The Palazzo Las Vegas have announced that Vice President of Yield Management Jack Easdale has been awarded the Mentor of the Year award from University of Nevada Las Vegas. Easdale lent his time and expertise to help mentor UNLV hotel college student, Kaiyang Wu, to send him on his path to success in the complex world of the hospitality industry.

Easdale was presented with his award at the UNLV Hotel College Mentor Program awards ceremony on March 24 at The Las Vegas Country Club.

"I became a mentor because I wish it was something we had in school when I was a student," says Easdale, 'it's a great way to get involved in the industry when you are still learning."

Wu, who moved from China to Las Vegas to attend UNLV in 2012, says he nominated Easdale because he spent so much time helping him understand what revenue management is all about. "He even spent time with my family when they were visiting last December."

Additional nominees from The Venetian and The Palazzo Las Vegas included Executive Director of Market Research Mara Reimer, VIP Manager Paul Schillig, Executive Director of Hotel Operations, Luxury and Guest Services Joseph Wagner and Assistant Director of Luxury Services Michael Willinsky.

The Venetian and The Palazzo Las Vegas have been a long-time supporter of the UNLV Hotel College Mentor Program, providing the participation of a distinct array of industry professionals each academic year.

The UNLV Hotel College Mentor Program works to provide students with the opportunity to meet hospitality industry professionals who are willing to use their experience and knowledge to immerse the student in as much real world experience as possible. The process is based on student interest through applications, and selected students are paired with their mentors and work together for two semesters. At the end of the program, students are given the opportunity to nominate their mentor to be awarded for their outstanding work throughout the program.
