The Jackson Family Wines Culinary Series, by Karisma Toasts One Year Anniversary & Announces 2014 Lineup of Events

Following an enormously successful inaugural year, The Jackson Family Wines Culinary Series, by Karisma is pleased to celebrate its first anniversary and announce the 2014 lineup of events, top chefs, and winemasters. Karisma Hotels & Resorts, a premier collection of 12 Gourmet Inclusive properties in Riviera Maya, Mexico and Negril, Jamaica offering the best in food and service, partnered with Jackson Family Wines to offer its guests outstanding selections from the Jackson Family Wines portfolio, representing more than 30 labels of super-premium and luxury wines, at each of its properties.

Launched in January 2013, as a part of the collaboration, Karisma Hotels & Resorts debuted The Jackson Family Wines Culinary Series, by Karisma, a wine and food program spotlighting top chefs and winemasters from around the world that takes place the first week of each month. In its inaugural year, The Jackson Family Wines Culinary Series, by Karisma welcomed 4,500 guests, encompassing foodies, oenophiles, and amateurs alike, as well as renowned chefs, restaurateurs, winemakers, and sommeliers to El Dorado Royale, A Spa Resort, by Karisma in Riviera Maya.

Beginning in January 2014, the Culinary Series will welcome an equally impressive roster of culinary talent, showcasing a noteworthy chef and wine personality each month to work alongside Karisma Hotels & Resorts' esteemed team of Michelin star restaurant-trained chefs and sommeliers. Providing guests with hands-on epicurean experiences, the Culinary Series offers access and insight into highly sought-after wines, vertical tastings, educational classes with sommeliers and winemakers, cooking courses, special pairings, elaborate meals, and an exclusive Guest Chef and Winemaster's Dinner.

The Jackson Family Wines Culinary Series, by Karisma features notable chefs and winemakers from around the globe each month. Confirmed themes and participants for 2014 include:

  • Anniversary Celebration, January 6-10: Executive Chef and Partner of Gunshow and Woodfire Grill in Atlanta, Kevin Gillespie and Kendall-Jackson Winemaker, Matt Smith
  • Flavors of Canada, February 3-7: Owner and Executive Chef of Waterfront Restaurant & Wine Bar in British Columbia, Mark Filatow, and Winemaker, Ted Edwards, from Abbey Winery
  • Flavors of Canada, March 3-7: Owner and Executive Chef of Harbord Room in Ontario, Cory Vitiello, and Winemaker, ElizaBeth Grant Douglass, of La Crema Winery
  • Flavors of Sonoma, April 7-11: Mark Stark, chef and proprietor of Healdsburg California's Stark Reality Restaurants, and Winemaker, Dave Ready Jr., of Murphy Goode
  • Flavors of The Caribbean, May 5-9: Proprietor and Executive Chef of Oceana and Grande Cru Restaurants in St. Thomas, Patricia LaCorte, and wine educator, Pedro Rusk
  • Flavors of Aruba, June 2-6: Urvin Croes, executive chef and owner of White Modern Cuisine in Aruba, and sales director of Caribbean Cruises, Mark Kilbride
  • Flavors of Tortola, July 7-11: Kendall-Jackson Wine Estate & Gardens estate chef, Andre Litvinenko, and Arrowood Winemaker, Heidi Von Der Mehden
  • Flavors of The Caribbean, August 4-8: Dean Maxx, corporate executive chef of Brasserie on Cayman Island, and Cambria Winemaker, Tyler Plant or Denise Shurtleff
  • Flavors of Turks and Caicos, September 1-5: Martin Davies, corporate executive chef of Parrot Cay, and sales director of Caribbean and Latin America, Luis Reyneri
  • Flavors of Italy, October 6-10: Executive Chef of the Lido Complex in Bermuda, Serge Bottelli, and Italian wine expert, Vito Parente
  • Flavors of Sonoma, November 3-7: Executive Chef of Farmhouse in Sonoma, Steve Litke, and Jackson Family Wines Educator, Jim Cutcher
  • Cheers to The New Year, December 1-5: Executive Chef of Zin Restaurant in Healdsburg, Jeff Mall, and director of communications, Gilian Handelman

The weeklong Culinary Series is hosted at the award-winning El Dorado Royale and Casitas Royale, A Spa Resort, by Karisma, an adults-only Gourmet Inclusive properties. Featuring seven Gourmet Inclusive restaurants, including a "culinary theater" where dishes are prepared in one of three open kitchens, the resort also boasts 15 bars and lounges serving premium alcoholic beverages, including bar specializing in martinis, bars with swings, beach bars, and nine swim-up bars. El Dorado Royale is also home to a 100,000-square-feet Greenhouse, the Riviera Maya's only facility of this magnitude, which produces 120 tons of crops annually and provides fresh produce to its collection of 11 properties within the Karisma Hotels & Resorts collection.
