Catholic pilgrimage provider Regina Tours will offer three 2015 departures of "Shroud of Turin," a 10-day tour of Italy which features a special visit to Turin to view the Holy Shroud bearing the image of Jesus Christ. The sacred relic was last publicly displayed in Turin in the spring of 2010 and will again be on display from April 19 - June 24, 2015. Regina Tours' "Shroud of Turin" pilgrimage takes travelers on a north-to-south journey of Italy, with stops in Milan, Pisa, Florence, Assisi and Rome.
On their first day in Italy, the group will enjoy a panoramic tour of Milan, including visits to Sforzesco Castle, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele and the Duomo, Milan's world-famous cathedral. >From there, the group journeys to Turin, for a high point of the pilgrimage-a tour of the Cathedral and Museum of the Holy Shroud.
The group continues to the beautiful region of Tuscany for a visit to the town of Pisa, where they will see the famous leaning tower and the Piazza dei Miracoli and Cathedral, and then journey on to the enchanting Tuscan town of Florence. Here, pilgrims experience some of the most well-known sites in all of Italy: the Piazza della Signoria, the Ponte Vecchio, the Piazza del Duomo, the Giotto Campanile, the Brunelleschi Cupola and the Cathedral.
After two days in Tuscany, pilgrims head to Assisi, where they will first stop at St. Mary of the Angels Basilica, which encloses the small chapel that St. Francis built and celebrate Mass together. The Basilica also houses the Cappella del Transito that contains the cell where St. Francis died in 1226.
The pilgrimage winds down with two glorious days in Rome. Pilgrims tour "Christian Rome," including the Basilica of St. Mary Major, one of the oldest shrines dedicated to the Blessed Virgin. This shrine contains a relic from the manger of the infant Jesus. Mass will be celebrated at the shrine. They visit the Holy Stairs, the Basilica of St. John the Lateran, Trevi fountain and St. Paul Outside the Walls, which houses the remains of St. Paul under its main altar. The following day, the group attends the weekly Papal Audience or Blessing given by His Holiness Pope Francis (pending his schedule). Following the audience, the group visits the Vatican Museums and enters the largest and grandest church in Christendom, St. Peter's Basilica, built on the site where St. Peter was martyred.
