To ring in the New Year, Chicago's Spectacle company Redmoon presents the second annual New Year's Eve: Revolution, a festive evening of sensuous elegance and wild imagination propelled by the classical elements of nature: earth, air, water and fire. Redmoon's carnival-esque interpretation of the traditional New Year's Eve celebration engineers wonder through its fantastical and functional mechanical inventions, mind-blowing tableaux and lavishly costumed performers, all in a new layout designed to create a wide-open space and atmosphere. New Year's Eve: Revolution unfolds at the company's Pilsen home at 2120 S. Jefferson Street, Wednesday, December 31 (New Year's Eve) beginning at 9 pm. A full bar is included in the ticket price.
Redmoon transforms its warehouse home into a thrilling party space, this year directed by Frank Maugeri, in collaboration with several directors, designers and close to 40 performers and musicians. Guests enter the immersive experience through a glacier-walled lobby. The chilly anteroom has been converted into a mammoth arctic ice arcade in which guests can fire air guns and marshmallow slingshots at menacing Redmoon creatures. Players can enjoy the "world's largest shooting gallery" all evening (for an additional cost determined by a spin of the wheel).
Inside the gargantuan Spectacle Hall, playful guests can swing in a small "park." A rotating, 30-foot-tall Drum Crane Tower suspends three circular musical performance platforms with tiers for three full drum kits. At the peak of the Tower, an industrial confetti cannon and propulsion system allows for tremendous bursts of confetti. From the Crane's tip is suspended an acrobat spinning over the guests. A trio of mausoleums reclaimed from the Halloween Boneshaker party has been united into interactive bars serving wine and specialty cocktails. Atop the three bars, a DJ accompanied by sexy dancers spins beats throughout the night.
Wine is dispensed through Redmoon's signature Wine Bikes pedaling through the crowd, pouring glass after glass for attendees. The indefatigable Cask & Courtesy will again curate Redmoon's Revolution cocktail experience with bubbly champagne-based beverages, sloshy slushies and potent potable fountains. Making its debut at Revolution, is the Pastry Carousel, Redmoon's newest spectacle service device. Equal parts tall tricycle, Ferris wheel and conveyor belt, the Pastry Carousel moves throughout the space treating guests to scrumptious sweets and irresistible confections.
Elemental themes of the night include:
· 9pm Earth Hour - Roving animal characters and wilderness creatures serve drinks and bites.
· 10pm Air Hour - Desserts descend from the heavens via cantilevered cauldrons while acrobats drop from high above the center of the space.
· 11pm Water Hour - Bubble mechanisms in the ceiling turn the space into a veritable bubble party.
· 12:00am Fire Hour - An explosive midnight countdown with concussive confetti detonations ignites the final themed hour and continues for the remainder of the night.
Other Spectacle elements throughout the evening include:
· Astrologists, palm readers, fortune tellers, Tarot card readers and foot massagers provide an intimate luxury psychic experience beyond the imagination in the invitation-only Astro Salon. Located in the upstairs mezzanine, it will be abundant with secret specialty drinks. To score an invitation, guests must discover special ways to interact with key Redmoon characters throughout the evening.
· Inside a romantic interactive tableau, affectionate guests can make public demonstrations of love via a Kiss Cam broadcast onto a giant 26-foot screen for the whole party to see.
· A beautifully adorned Resolution Post Office will mail guests' future resolutions to other humans, living or departed.
· A "cacophonous-tic" drum and song moment interrupts the after-midnight event.
· Entertaining surprise food service by partners like The Doughnut Vault and Babycakes Gourmet Pancakes will delight guests at peak event moments.
