Mistral Unites With Three Epicures In A Luxury Dining Event

By: Oct. 03, 2013

Beverly Hills, Calif., Oct. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ Three ardent epicures of unconventional provenance-a surgeon, an investment banker, and a philosopher-will come together as the "Three Epicures" on Monday, October 28, at Mistral in Sherman Oaks, California, to lead restaurant guests in a luxurious five-course dining experience, featuring some of the world's finest fare.

Eight wines from the Sud-Ouest region of France will be paired with:

• Pate, Jamon Serrano, and Salami

• Petite Salad de Fruits de Mer; Pan Seared Loup de Mer, Beurre Blanc

• Duck Confit Cassoulet with Garlic Sausage and Bacon Lardons

• Petite Filet Mignon, Classic Sauce Bearnaise

• Tarte aux Pruneaux.

Larrian Gillespie-a former urologic surgeon, author of several nutrition books, and now owner of Jammies Organic Artisanal Jams in Beverly Hills and Healdsburg, California-uses her in-depth knowledge of human physiology and food science to produce pairings that never fail to impress. Larrian scientifically analyzes the chemical flavor profile of each dish and works with the chef to create courses guaranteed to give each guest a truly unexpected gastronomic experience. Now an extensively-trained culinary expert, she has developed a unique line of jams which enhance the flavor and aroma profile of wine under her Addiction label, which will be served at this occasion-Rose, Malbec, and Aigre Doux Jurancon.

Jorn Kleinhans, former Vice President of a bond trading firm, is now the owner of Wine Elite, an independent sommelier company specializing in high-end wine tasting experiences. Since training with the Society of Wine Educators and the Court of Master Sommeliers, Jorn has developed and used his distinctive tasting methodology to teach the essentials of fine wine appreciation to thousands of wine students and enthusiasts. He is a sought-after wine seminar instructor, public speaker, and consultant to leading hotels and restaurants, meeting planners, special event venues, and private clubs.

Adam Edmonsond, also a sommelier with Wine Elite, is among the youngest wine educators in the world at 23 years of age, and also among the youngest in the field of competitive blind tasting. Adam brings an academic background in philosophy and his long-standing interest in the world of luxury to bear on the deeper questions about "the finer things," challenging commonly-held ideas about the role of luxury in life.

The famed designer Coco Chanel is purported to have said, "Luxury is not the opposite of poverty; it is the opposite of vulgarity." The Three Epicures hold that the experience of luxury is not the opposite of "necessity," but a vital part of flourishing. Tickets for the event are $95. To attend, contact Henri Abergel, owner of Mistral Restaurant, at 818-981-6650. To interview the Three Epicures, contact Mary Evans or visit ThreeEpicures.com.
