Iceland's New Year's in July Photo Contest Offers Chance to Ring in 2014 in Iceland

Iceland Naturally, a council of Icelandic brands, today announced the launch of its New Year's in July Photo Contest, calling for entrants to submit photos of themselves enjoying fireworks on the Fourth of July for a chance to win a trip to celebrate New Year's Eve in Reykjavik. Entries will be accepted through July 19, shortly after which the public will vote for one of 10 finalists. The finalist whose photo receives the most votes will win the grand prize trip to Iceland.

To enter the New Year's in July Photo Contest, U.S. participants 18 years or older must submit photos of themselves enjoying fireworks. Photos can be submitted on Iceland Naturally's website and Facebook page from July 1-19. Ten finalists, selected by a panel of Iceland Naturally judges, will be announced on July 22, and the public will vote for the winner from July 22-28. The grand prize winner of the New Year's Eve trip for two to Reykjavik will be announced via Iceland Naturally's website on July 29.

Reykjavik's annual New Year's Eve celebration is Iceland's most extravagant fireworks display of the year, with the city's entire population approximately 200,000 people embracing a no-restrictions fireworks policy to create their own massive display. Fireworks are mainly sold by the Icelandic Association for Search and Rescue to raise funds for the courageous volunteer association, making Icelanders even more enthusiastic about participating in the show.
