PARIS - Being part of a successful business means not just taking it all in, but giving back, too. As part of its efforts to invest in and assist the local community, the Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport Marriott Hotel business council has made a conscious decision to donate time, money and more to a variety of important causes.
The Roparun, a relay race that covers 520 kilometers from Paris and 560 kilometers from Hamburg to Rotterdam, requires people to work together as a team to raise money for the cancer-stricken. As part of its pledge to help, this Paris CDG Airport hotel has accommodated nine relay participants the night before the race for the past several years.
This hotel near Villepinte also helped fund cancer research by purchasing flowers from Tulips Against Cancer, and provided food service for the homeless through the Trinité Association.
The airport hotel near Roissy is also heavily involved in the SOS Children's Villages, an independent, non-governmental, international development organization that's been working to meet the needs and protect the interests and rights of children since 1949. The hotel organized tombola tournaments, a garage sale, cooking classes and a teddy bear sale to raise funds for the association. And it's not just staff who get into the giving spirit; guests also participate. Examples include guest purchases in a private auction to benefit SOS Children's Villages, and a guest-organized bridge competition in which the entry fees will be donated to the association.
