Breaking News: Disney World's Getting a Star Wars Land!

It's not a major surprise, and most have been expecting it since Disney acquired LucasFilm and especially since they announced new films, but - Star Wars arriving in full force (pun intended) at Disney World is now looking more likely.

Theme Park Insider reports that "Multiple sources have told me the long-awaited dream of theme park geeks everywhere is actually happening. Disney's moving ahead with both Cars Land and Star Wars Land at the Disney's Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World." They go on to note that "This appears to be a five-year project, putting completion in 2018, though Disney could choose to throw money at it and accelerate it by a year."

No word yet on the specifics, though other rumors peg it as likely to include more updates to Star Tours, a Cantina-themed restaurant, lots more integration and character appearances and a possible new ride.

So, is it 2018 yet?

Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort guests won't have to wait until the Fourth of July to celebrate America's birthday. They can choose any day of Independence Week July 1-7 in the parks to experience the flag-waving spirit of the holiday all part of Limited Time Magic.
