AAA: Spring Travel off to Hot Start in Illinois/Indiana

"It's clear that travelers are seeking warm weather destinations this spring as they look to escape the cold after a particularly harsh winter," said Beth Mosher, AAA spokesperson. "In addition to great domestic destination getaways, cruises, tours and vacation packages to international destinations such as Mexico and the Caribbean are also popular vacations this spring."
The majority of IL/IN travelers (76 percent) plan to travel domestically, 7 percent of travelers are planning international travel and 17 percent plan to travel both internationally and domestically. The top five types of vacations for IL/IN travelers include: city travel (46 percent), beach vacation (32 percent), international travel (21 percent), resort/all inclusive (18 percent) and National/State Park (18 percent).

The AAA Consumer Pulse Survey was conducted online among residents living in Illinois and Indiana from January 26, 2015 - February 4, 2015. A total of 405 residents completed the survey. The survey has a maximum margin of error of ± 4.9 percentage points. Overall survey responses are weighted by gender and age to ensure reliable and accurate representation of the adult population (18+) in Illinois.
