Patrick Summers will conduct all performances of Richard Strauss' 'Salome' this season at the Metropolitan Opera, replacing Mikko Franck, who is ill. 'Salome' opens September 23, and continues September 26 and 30, October 4 (matinee), 7, 11 (matinee), and 16. Karita Mattila sings her celebrated portrayal of the title role, with Finnish baritone Juha Uusitalo making his Met debut as Jokanaan, Ildikó Komlósi as Herodias, Kim Begley as Herod, and Joseph Kaiser as Narraboth.

The October 11 matinee will be transmitted to nearly 30 countries around the world as part of 'The Met: Live in HD' series.
