Cynthia Vaughn, co-author of the leading class voice college textbook and song anthology, The Singing Book, is celebrating the anniversary of Magnolia Music Studio-Old Town, the music studio she founded in Fort Collins, Colorado six years ago.

Established in 2008 by the former Colorado State University voice professor, the downtown music studio offers vocal and instrumental lessons for adults, teens, and youth in the lower level commercial space of The Lofts at Magnolia, 210 W. Magnolia St, Ste. 210, Fort Collins, Colorado.

"Looking back, it seems crazy to have started a small business in the 2008 recession." Vaughn remembers. "Six years ago people were cutting back on non-essential expenses. I learned, however, that a lot of people consider music lessons essential for enjoyment and quality of life."

As a community music school, Magnolia Music Studio has distinguished itself with the experience and high quality of its faculty and connections to the community, arts organizations, local charities, and Colorado State University. Magnolia Music Studio is a business sponsor of Realities for Children, Midtown Arts Center's Young Audience Series, Colorado State University's Meet Me at the UCA Concert Series, Opera Fort Collins' educational series, Bas Bleu Theatre, and a member of the Downtown Business Association.

Voice teacher Aimee Woods joined the faculty of Magnolia Music Studio in 2009 and has recently been named a Magnolia Master Teacher and Assistant Director of Magnolia Music Studio-Old Town. Ms. Woods earned a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Colorado State University and a Bachelor of Music from University of Northern Colorado. Active throughout the Colorado music community, Ms. Woods is also on the voice faculty of Front Range Community College, is the Music Director for Fort Collins Children's Theatre, is the Artistic Director for MOVE-Magnolia Opera & Vocal Ensemble, and is the Vice President of the Colorado/Wyoming Chapter of National Association of Teachers of Singing.

The Magnolia Music faculty includes voice teacher Nathan Hickle M.M, (music faculty at Front Range Community College); voice teacher Alexandra Trosper M.M (Boulder's Parlando School, Denver's School of Rock); voice teacher Kimberli Render M.M. (Colorado State University adjunct professor, Liu in Opera Fort Collins' Turandot); harp teacher Alaina Bongers M.M. (Magnolia Master Teacher, Director of Northern Colorado Harp Festival); fiddle teacher Vi Wickam (Magnolia Master Teacher, fiddle champion, recording artist, and national adjudicator); violin teacher Karoline Barnett (toured nationally, teacher at Denver's El Sistema); and flute teacher Rachelle Crowell (principal flutist, Loveland Orchestra.)

Magnolia Music Studio founder Cynthia Vaughn is opening a second Magnolia Music Studio location in Richland, Washington. Magnolia Music School-RiverWalk opens September 2 offering voice and violin lessons. Vaughn will teach voice lessons at the new studio and return to Magnolia Music Studio-Old Town studio monthly.

"It is an exciting challenge to start a second music studio out of state. I can only do this because I have such confidence in Aimee Woods and the outstanding teachers and students in Fort Collins. I am not starting Magnolia-RiverWalk from scratch, but applying what I've learned the past six years."
