Lehman, Gould Replace Heppner in The Met's 2011 Season

Gary Lehman and Stephen Gould will sing the role of Siegfried in the Met's 2011-12 season performances of Wagner's Siegfried and Götterdämmerung, replacing Ben Heppner who has retired the role from his repertory.
 
In Siegfried, Gary Lehman sings the title role on October 27, November 1, 5 matinee, April 21 matinee, and April 30; Stephen Gould sings it on May 9.
 
In Götterdämmerung, Gary Lehman sings the role of Siegfried on January 27, February 7, 11, and May 3; Stephen Gould sings it on January 31, February 3, April 24, and May 12 matinee.
 
Gary Lehman made his Met debut in 2008 as Tristan in Tristan und Isolde. He has also sung Siegmund in Die Walküre and, last season, Alwa in Lulu at the Met. His Met performances as Siegfried will be his role debut.
 
Stephen Gould made his Met debut last season as Erik in Der Fliegende Holländer. He has sung Siegfried at both the Vienna State Opera and the Bayreuth Festival.
 
James Levine conducts Wagner's entire four-part cycle Der Ring des Nibelungen next season at the Met, including the new productions of both Siegfried and Götterdämmerung.
