Portland Opera, the legacy Pacific Northwest arts company, has achieved the first benchmark goal in their KEEP PORTLAND OPERATIC fundraising campaign goal of $1.5M by June 30, 2026, allowing for the announcement of their 2026/27 season DRIVEN BY VISION.

Controversial, provocative, and widely considered the greatest American opera, this landmark of Black artistic representation uses jazz, blues, and spirituals to examine resilience, identity, and the ways in which connections are forged within community.
The company has also announced receipt of a $100,000 donation from Broadway Across America to its fundraising campaign.

Broadway Across America's gift underscores the significant progress of Portland Opera's fundraising work. Titled KEEP PORTLAND OPERATIC – Save our song. Secure our future, the campaign is a 16-month endeavor aiming to stabilize operations, protect artistic excellence, and position the company for long-term sustainability. To date, Portland Opera has raised a total of $1,506,215, with $3,493,785 still to be raised by June of 2027.
Funds raised through KEEP PORTLAND OPERATIC will:
- Resume programming for the 26/27 season
- Sustain hundreds of artists, musicians, craftspeople, and staff who power the Pacific Northwest arts ecosystem
- Protect and expand vital community programs, including Portland Opera to Go (POGO) — which has reached nearly 300,000 students — and Opera a la Cart, the mobile performance program that brings live opera directly into neighborhoods across the region
- Create capacity for transformation, with a leaner, nimbler and more transparent operating model designed to grow earned revenue and secure long-term financial stability
