CÚ CHULAINN Opera to Make World Premiere at The Everyman Cork
The opera by Éadaoin O'Donoghue and John O'Brien features Niamh O'Sullivan, Rory Dunne, and Gavan Ring.
The Everyman and Cork Opera House will present a rehearsed reading concert performance of Cú Chulainn, a new opera by Éadaoin O’Donoghue and John O’Brien. Cú Chulainn takes place on Thursday 13 August in The Everyman.
Commissioned by The Everyman and inspired by the characters of the Táin, Cú Chulainn follows the critically acclaimed opera Morrígan, which received widespread praise following its 2022 premiere.
This new work explores the great and tragic relationship between Cú Chulainn and Ferdia, the political intrigue of Queen Medb's court, and the demise of Conor Mac Nessa, bringing some of Ireland's most enduring mythological figures vividly to life.
The cast features Niamh O'Sullivan, Rory Dunne, Gavan Ring, Ronald Samm, Rachel Croash, Brendan Collins, Gráinne Gillis and Viktor Priebe, accompanied by chorus and the Cork Opera House Concert Orchestra, conducted by John O'Brien.
