White Eagle Hall Celebrates One Year Reopening Anniversary with Free Concert

White Eagle Hall reopened on May 5th of 2017 as a fully restored concert hall and theater, changing the New Jersey/New York music scene and enhancing Jersey City's growing reputation as cultural destination. To celebrate its first anniversary, the venue hosts a free concert featuring some of the best of New Jersey rock - Rye Coalition, Will Wood & the Tapeworms, Rock & Roll High Fives and Long Neck - on Saturday May 5th 2018.

Originally constructed in 1910, White Eagle Hall underwent a massive renovation by Ben LoPiccolo Development Group, a restoration project that preserved the intimate atmosphere and architectural integrity of this historic theater while adding the latest in sound and lighting technology and full-bar and food service.

The venue has hosted a range of bands - from well-established artists, such as Roky Erickon, Max Weinberg, Gary Numan, Drive by Truckers and L7 - to up-and-coming, cutting-edge musicians, including Mitski, Best Coast, Waxahatchee, and Misterwives. White Eagle Hall gives audiences the rare opportunity to experience some of today's most important musicians in an intimate, comfortable setting that features unobstructed sightlines from all vantage points throughout the hall and a state-of-the-art sound system.

The combination has proven successful with audiences and artists alike. In its inaugural year, the region's newest concert venue has already attracted tens of thousands to its weekly roster of shows, with many notable sold-out performances, including Mountain Goats, New Found Glory, Bouncing Souls and Julien Baker.

It's no wonder that White Eagle Hall has become known as a place where truly special musical moments occur, such as an incredible homecoming performance by Ho99o9 (pronounced Horror). This hip-hop phenomenon is originally from Newark but moved to Los Angeles and found international fame. Their White Eagle Hall show was both their first official New Jersey appearance and their last stateside show before embarking on an acclaimed European Tour; New Found Glory celebrated its 20th anniversary with an unforgettable White Eagle Hall performance topped off with confetti blasts and balloon drop; Bellville's own Frank Iero of My Chemical Romance fame brought his band - Frank Iero & The Patience - for an exclusive Jersey City show and fans flew in from all over the country.

Audiences and artists agree that this venue has made Jersey City a 21st century concert destination. "White Eagle Hall is a tremendous new venue run by terrific people in an up and coming hip section of Jersey City, New Jersey," says Dicky Barrett of The Mighty Mighty BossTones. Barret led his band in a rocking, sold-out night of their trademark ska and old school dance hall tunes in March, presented in partnership with Excess dB.

"They converted an historical old meeting hall/ballroom and they did it right," Barrett continues. "We loved playing there and look forward to playing there again at some point soon.
