Wayne Wonder To Make Vibe Lounge Debut On Sunday March 3

Acclaimed Jamaican reggae/hip hop artist Wayne Wonder will make his Vibe Lounge debut on Sunday March 3 as part of the lounge's exclusive DVP (Day Vibe Party) 100 Concert Series.

The event begins at 4pm with Wonder slated to take the stage later in the evening.

Located in Rockville Centre Long Island, The New Vibe Lounge is gradually emerging as one of Long Island's premiere cultural and entertainment facilities and recently played host to a sold out staged reading performance of David Heron's legal drama Against His Will.

The DVP 100 Concert Series is a daytime party event hosted on select weekends at the lounge and features accomplished musical artistes as well as award winning DJs from across the USA and The Caribbean. It will be the first time in his lengthy career that Wonder will perform at the lounge.

Born Von Wayne Charles in eastern Jamaica, Wayne Wonder is considered to be one of Jamaica's premier reggae fusion artists. Beginning his career as a reggae and dancehall performer, he became known for early hits such as Long and Lasting Love and Saddest Day, recorded with Jamaican producing legends King Tubby and Dave Kelly, respectively.

His popularity surged after he toured internationally with several of Kelly's Penthouse label luminaries including Marcia Griffiths, Tony Rebel and Buju Banton in the early 1990s. But his major international breakthrough would come in 2003 when he signed with Atlantic Records. That collaboration produced his biggest hit to date, No Letting Go, which was a Billboard top 20 hit in the USA and a top 5 single in the United Kingdom. The single was considered a true embodiment of the fusion of Wonder's reggae dancehall sound with rap and hip hop elements, which had lead to collaborations with the likes of Foxy Brown and Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes in the early 2000s.

According to Vibe co owner Patrick Aitcheson, the lounge is "thrilled and excited" to be hosting Wonder for the first time, and plans to bring artistes of similar caliber to Vibe on a regular basis as it continues to create its niche within the Long Island community.

" We are definitely anticipating a terrific event with Wayne Wonder at the helm come March 3, and his Vibe Lounge debut is something we know audiences will thoroughly enjoy," he says. "My Vibe co owner and partner Dwayne Reynolds and myself are committed to using the DVP 100 Concert Series as one of our flagship events as we look to solidify our position as a true entertainment and cultural landmark in Rockville Centre and the surrounding community. The immediate plan is to continue with more varied entertainment events- playreading productions, poetry slams, comedy nights- as well as day parties with major artistes and deejays to ensure that something great is always happening at Vibe. Believe me, this is just the beginning."

The New Vibe Lounge is located at 60 North Park Avenue in Rockville Centre, Long Island, 11570.

Tickets to the DVP 100 Concert Series event featuring Wayne Wonder are $40 each and are available here:-
