Trust for Governors Island Unveils 2026 Summer Season of Festivals & Events
The New York City destination will feature food, arts, and America250 celebrations on Governors Island.
Trust for Governors Island has announced its 2026 summer season, featuring a lineup of arts programming, festivals, culinary offerings, recreational activities, and public events across Governors Island.
The season also includes expanded ferry service connecting the Island to Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 6 and Atlantic Basin in Red Hook on weekends and holidays from May 23 through November 1.
According to the Trust, this year’s programming will include events connected to America250 celebrations, arts initiatives, educational activities, and large-scale public festivals.
Clare Newman, President and CEO of the Trust for Governors Island, said in a statement that the Island has evolved into “a vibrant, year-round destination that reflects the spirit and diversity of New York City.”
The Island’s public offerings this summer will include access to 120 acres of open space, the Hills, Hammock Grove, public art installations, bike rentals, climate-focused educational programs, and seasonal attractions including QC NY, Collective Retreats, and LMCC’s Arts Center at Governors Island.

Damask Rose: A Gathering
Presented by Governors Island Arts on May 16.
Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix
The international sailing event returns May 30–31.
GovCup Tournament
NYC Footy’s annual tournament takes place June 6–7.
Sunset Soiree
The Governors Island Foundation benefit event will be held June 9.
Youth Climate Summit
Hosted by the New York City Department of Education on June 10.
Jazz Age Lawn Party
The annual festival returns June 13–14.
my tongue is a blade
The performance by Sweat Variant will be presented June 19–20 as part of Governors Island Arts and LMCC’s River to River Festival.
FAD Market
The outdoor market will take place June 20–21 and July 25–26.
Porch Stomp
The folk music festival returns June 20.
The Great Nosh
The food-focused event takes place June 21.
Sail4th 250 Grand Review of Tall Ships
The America250-related event arrives July 4.
New York City Poetry Festival
The annual festival returns July 18–19.
Jazz by the Water
The concert event will take place July 25.
Food and Dining
New culinary additions this season include Six Coasts by Smorgasburg and Theodora Beach Club Presented by Resy. Returning vendors include Joe Coffee Company, Little Eva’s, Taco Vista, Pizzeria Fantastica, Fauzia’s Heavenly Delights, Threes Brewing, Sea Biscuit, Tokyo Drumstick, La Newyorkina, Makina Café, and On Tea Road.
Misipasta x Governors Island, a seasonal outdoor dinner series featuring chef Missy Robbins, will return Mondays through Thursdays from June 8 through August 31.
Visitor Information
Summer hours begin May 22, 2026. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, Governors Island will remain open until 10:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Round-trip ferry tickets operated by the Trust cost $5 for adults and remain free for children 12 and under, seniors 65 and older, NYCHA residents, IDNYC holders, military service members, and Governors Island members. Weekend ferries before 11:00 a.m. are free for all riders.
