The Tampa Bay Ukulele Society will offer two exclusive workshops in the Murray Theatre at Ruth Eckerd Hall on Thursday, July 6 at 6 pm and at 7:30 pm. The cost to attend one class is $10 and students must pre-register. For more information and to enroll in the workshop, please call: (727) 712-2706. Only those who pre-register are guaranteed to be provided a ukulele to use during the class, yet anyone with their own may bring it.
Youth and adults of all ages and experiences levels are encouraged to enroll. The beginners' class at 6 pm is for those with no experience playing a ukulele and the intermediate class at 7:30 pm is for those who have some familiarity. Students who take the beginners workshop are encouraged to stay for the intermediate workshop.
The Tampa Bay Ukulele Society (TBUS) was founded in 2009. With over 1600 members, it is Florida's largest ukulele club. TBUS holds events throughout the year including open-mic nights, jams, workshops, concerts and its annual festival in November - The Tampa Bay Ukulele Getaway (TBUG). The Tampa Bay Ukulele Society's mission is to provide entertainment, education and community service opportunities for its members. Through its TBUS Cares program the group has made cash donations to charities, donated ukuleles to libraries throughout Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties, and donated the time of its members to teach beginner ukulele workshop programs.
