Queens College Alumni Wins Fourth Grammy Award

On behalf of the Queens College community, I'd like to congratulate alumnus Arturo O'Farrill on his Grammy Award win last night. Arturo won in the category of Best Instrumental Composition for his work Three Revolutions.

A four-time Grammy Award winner, Arturo is among the Queens College alumni and faculty who have been nominated for more than 100 Grammy Awards (winning more than 30!) over the past 50 years.

A 2005 graduate of our renowned Aaron Copland School of Music, Arturo earned an MA in jazz performance. He benefited from the influence of distinguished former music school faculty member Sir Roland Hanna, who bridged European classical music with American jazz, as well as having studied composition with Grammy-nominated professor Michael Mossman.

Arturo's achievement serves as an enduring source of inspiration for past, present, and future students at Queens College, and further illustrates that the mentorship and training our students receive prepares them for the very highest level of success.

As we continue our 80th anniversary celebration this academic year, we encourage all students to pursue their passions and take full advantage of the resources available to them at Queens College so their dreams, too, can become a reality.
