Peter Morén, of Peter Bjorn and John fame, is set to release a series of solo EPs on INGRID. The first in the series is Broken Swenglish Vol. 1 - a 4-song release that features three songs previously only available in Swedish and one song - "Say My Name" - that was available in English for the first time on INGRID's debut release, a compilation called Volym 1 that came out in the US on Record Store Day 2012 digitally and on vinyl. Broken Swenglish Vol. 1 is due out on December 9th and marks Morén's first solo release in the US since 2008's full-length studio album The Last Tycoon.

Morén has been extremely busy since his debut solo album came out. In addition to recording, releasing and touring behind Peter Bjorn and John's 2011 studio album Gimme Some, he's released two more full-length solo albums in Swedish - 2010's I spåren av tåren and 2012's Pyramiden. Both releases were met with considerable critical acclaim in his homeland mostly due to their eclectic musical nature. It seems the new found freedom Morén experienced writing in his native tongue and the liberty he felt as a solo artist to draw from a variety of personal musical influences proved to be a winning combination.

The only issue at this point was that these albums were limited to a Swedish audience. Buoyed by the success met in Sweden for I spåren av tåren and Pyramiden, Morén decided to select several songs from the Swedish albums and record English versions to make his recent solo work accessible to his non-Swedish audience for the first time.

This brings us to Broken Swenglish Vol. 1 - the first 4 songs in the EP series to be released digitally by INGRID and due out today, December 9th. In addition to "Say My Name" ("Säg mitt namn" from 2012's Pyramiden), there's "To Catch Up With You" ("Att komma ikapp" from 2010's I spåren av tåren), "Going Places" ("Erik M. Nilsson" from Pyramiden) and "Constant Reaction" ("Orsak & Verkan" from Pyramiden).
