Music Duo WHAT I LIKE ABOUT JEW Return to the Stage!
By: Danielle DeSisto
What I Like About Jew's time at the top of the charts lasted about a week. Now they want it back.
In April, 2006, What I Like About Jew - the music duo of Sean Altman and Rob Tannenbaum - released their first album, Unorthodox (click here to listen & share), to widespread acclaim. They were hailed as "the Bart Simpsons of the Yeshiva" (Time Out New York), "giants of Jewish joke-pop" (New York Times), "sly and hilarious" (Village Voice), and "funny and smart" (Boston Globe). They were interviewed on NPR's Fresh Air With Terry Gross soon after they self-released their album, and with the support of NPR's predominantly Jewish-atheist audience, Unorthodox quickly shot up to #45 on the Amazon sales chart. They toured the country, played sold out concerts, and congratulated themselves for having injected wit and daring into the stale genre of Jewish-themed music.44 East 32nd St., New York, NY 10016
