Max Hatt / Edda Glass' official music video for their track "Crossing Over" premieres today on Relix. Watch the video here. This song appears on their debut album, Ocean Of Birds, out on May 20 via NewSong Recordings. Fans can pre-order the album through the band's PledgeMusic page.

To celebrate the release, the Sante Fe-based duo will tour nationwide this summer with U.S. dates at NPR's Mountain Stage, New York's Rockwood Music Hall, Nashville's The Basement, Washington's Bossa Bistro, Asheville's Isis Music Hall and more. See below for full list of dates.

Ocean Of Birds was produced and mixed by Pat Sansone (Wilco, The Autumn Defense) and Josh Shapera (Liam Hayes, The Autumn Defense) with Gar Ragland (Arthur Alligood, Chris Velan) and was recorded at Asheville North Carolina's Echo Mountain Recording Studios. Of the album, Hatt says, "The amazing [part] about the making of Ocean of Birds is that we all found each other. That Pat Sansone heard and dug our compositions. I think it's a testament to the power of music to find an audience, if it can be heard. And in the process we all created a unique hybrid that bridges the gap between jazz harmony, literate lyrics and people's ears. Pat was a big part of that." Glass adds, "We want to write about a world both intimate and vast, about little people on Great Plains."

After playing Bossa Nova in Montana for ten years, Max Hatt / Edda Glass emerged with their original music for a grand-prize win at the 2014 NewSong Competition, held at Lincoln Center in New York City. "Max Hatt / Edda Glass often defied categorization," said Gar Ragland, the contest's director, calling them, "arguably the most distinctive finalist act-let alone winner- we've ever had." Last winter, they played at the 2015 Sundance Film Fest, where ASCAP's Playback Magazine described their sets as "mesmerizing cinematic folk jazz."

Glass got her start singing Bossa Nova in Montana -- as she likes to say, "There's something poignant about singing Girl from Ipanema when it's negative forty out." Hatt grew up in the Chicago-land area, studying jazz guitar in Indiana University's David Baker program, Michigan State and in classes led by Pat Metheny, Julian Lage and Lee Ritenour.
