Last night, fans filled the iHeartRadio Theater in Burbank, CA for the iHeartRadio Album Release Party with Maroon 5, celebrating their new album, Red Pill Blues. During the live event that included a Q&A session with host JoJo Wright, Maroon 5 performed a selection of new songs including "Wait" and "What Lovers Do," as well as fan favorites such as "She Will Be Loved," "This Love," and "Harder To Breathe." Check out the highlights below!

Highlights:

When host JoJo Wright asked what was behind the title of the album, Red Pill Blues, Adam Levine noted, "I can't say for sure that I know what the answer to that question is because the name of an album is often just a vibe or the feeling you get when you talk to the band about it. We discussed a million options and trust me, this one came at the eleventh hour. I think we had about twenty minutes to come up with a name because we hadn't come up with one yet! It sounded good, it had the Matrix reference, and it was cool. There are a million things meaning-wise that we could discuss, but I like to let people ascribe their own meanings."

When asked about the evolution of Maroon 5 and why it's necessary to mix it up between albums, Levine noted that "It can be scary to follow a band on their journey because they may or may not do things that you don't like. You can't make everyone happy so you have to start by making yourselves happy as a band, and then hopefully people will follow. But you can't cater to your fans too much because then you get stuck in a rut, doing the same thing over and over again."

Wright asked Levine about the collaborations on Red Pill Blues which include Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky, Future, Julia Michaels, LunchMoney Lewis, and more. Levine noted that every collaboration served a real purpose, and it wasn't based on their notoriety. It was based on their talent and their freshness on the scene. The band thought deeply about who would be right for each song.

Before performing their new song "Wait," Levine noted that he likes the song because it isn't super high in his range, and it's a ton of fun. This was the first time that they performed the song in front of an audience.

When asked about what the biggest evolution has been between Songs About Jane and Red Pill Blues, Levine said that he thinks these two albums are actually the most connected. He added that none of their other records really felt related, but they came back to certain sounds this time around, creating a relationship between their newest album and their first album.
