Ian Vanek steps out from the art-punk world of Japanther once again to release his second full-length as Howardian, titled A Smurf at Land's End. Currently streaming in full on Brooklyn Vegan, Vanek's fusion of lo-fi garage fuzz, technical poly-rhythms, and hip-hop influence satisfies curious Japanther fans and new listeners alike.
Howardian's album A Smurf at Land's End finds the New York City group, in a mystic, street informed, art rock mode that feels simultaneously familiar and new. The warm piano driven leads and cooled out vocals created sticky songs great for travel and dance alike. The first offering, "No Nothin' Bae" is a hooky rock song with a haunting melody. A Smurf at Lands End is released today on Let's Pretend Records featuring album art by Molly Crabapple. Howardian will also be heading out on a full US tour supporting the album, including dates at SXSW 2016.Stream the full album HERE Catch Howardian On Tour: March 13 - Richmond, VA - Strange MatterVideos
