The 2012/13 Jazz Series at Walt Disney Concert Hall begins on February 9, 2013.

Just announced for April 23 is the United States premiere of Tribute to Miles, featuring Miles Davis alums Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and Marcus Miller joined by Vinnie Colaiuta and Sean Jones. The program produced by Marcus Miller and only before heard in Europe presents a fresh exploration of one of jazz's most celebrated icons.

Other programs previously announced include a co-commissioned piece written by Wayne Shorter for Grammy Award-winning bassist Esperanza Spalding along with the Los Angeles Philharmonic (Feb. 9); the upbeat, big band thrill of the Jazz At Lincoln Center Orchestra With Wynton Marsalis (Mar. 12); and the vocal improvisation of Bobby McFerrin (Apr. 3).

Herbie Hancock's tenure in his position as the Carolyn and Bill Powers Creative Chair for Jazz for the Los Angeles Philharmonic - which began in the summer of 2010 - currently runs through the Hollywood Bowl 2013 and 2013/14 winter season.
