The producers of the current Australian tour by US vocal group, The Platters, have announced the postponement of the forthcoming Brisbane and Adelaide seasons of the tour until early 2014. The postponement comes about because of the devastating fires in New South Wales, where the group was to spend the next two weeks touring. Venues in the fire region today advised the producers to postpone the tour given the circumstances.

Joint Managing Director of Republic Theatres Michael Todd said today that The Platters would return for their season atThe Regal Theatre 275 Kensington Road, Kensington on 28 February and 1 March 2014 at 8.00pm, and that patrons could either obtain a full refund or exchange their tickets for the new dates. 'Its extremely unfortunate as here in Adelaide are selling very well , but we understand that the national producer of the tour cannot financially have the group wait in Sydney for two weeks.'

NOTE: Patrons wishing to obtain a full refund on tickets purchased for the postponed 22 or 23 November Adelaide performances of The Platters need to do so through Venuetix and not through The Trak Cinema or Regal Theatre as reported earlier.
