The eagerly-anticipated David Gest tour is going ahead as planned, including a show in Warrington, despite the sad death of the music and reality TV star earlier this month. The tour title, David Gest is not Dead but Alive With Soul, will be retained after the producer's friend Imad Handi said it was in keeping with David's "mischievous sense of humour".

Friday 8 July, 7pm (VIP meet & greet 6pm), from £35

Parr Hall, Palmyra Square South, Warrington, WA1 1BL

Imad, who has co-produced David's tours for several years, said: "He may sadly be gone but his spirit is alive in the music he loved."

This spectacular soul tour features performances from music legends including Dina Carroll, Russell Thompkins Jr, Deniece Williams, Peabo Bryson, The Tymes, Freda Payne, Melba Moore, Anita Ward and Fern Kinney.

Emotions will be running high in Parr Hall as tributes will also be paid to Billy Paul who was due to perform at the show but passed away last Sunday (24 April).

Band of Gold singer Freda Payne will take on David's compère role for the concerts and Imad said he hoped fans would come out in force to pay their respects and celebrate his incredible life.

Musical tributes will include The Tymes performing David's favourite song Ms Grace and Peabo delivering a moving rendition of his track Missing You.

Plans are also in place for a special song to remember Billy Paul.

Imad Handi added: "Just like myself, all the artists were devastated when they learned David had died.

"Over the years they had become like a family together due to their close working relationship and the musicians were determined to go ahead with the tour to remember David with their music.

"Although he was known for his reality TV appearances in the UK, he lived for hosting gigs and his soul reviews were always the highlight of his year."

VIP tickets are available and include a chance to meet the stars before the show as well as photograph and autograph opportunities.
