Available on your PLAY MPE playerOne of the many milestones in Gustavo Dudamel's career was his appointment as Principal Conductor of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra on April 12, 2006, a position he assumed with the start of the 2007-08 season. Outside of Venezuela this was Dudamel's first appointment and his first long-term collaboration with a single ensemble. The collaboration has produced many exciting concerts and elicited high praise from the press and public alike. To celebrate Deutsche Grammophon will release a 3-CD box set of live recordings which includes symphonies by Bruckner, Sibelius and Nielsen, available September 13th. Click here to watch Dudamel talk about the recordings.
Most of Gustavo Dudamel's recordings have focused on either the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela or the Los Angeles Philharmonic, so it is with great pride that Deutsche Grammophon releases a set devoted to the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, an ensemble that has meant so much to the conductor. Founded in 1905, the orchestra has a long and illustrious history including a number of performances led by the composers Sibelius and Nielsen. In 1997 the orchestra was appointed The National Orchestra of Sweden and has toured the USA, Europe, Japan and the Far East. Deutsche Grammophon has released a number of GSO recordings over the years, including an acclaimed series with Neeme Järvi in the 1990s.www.gustavodudamel.comRepertoireCD 1
