Founding member of legendary NY-via-Providence noise collective Black Dice and a prolific solo artist in his own right, Eric Copeland takes a turn towards transformational psych dub experimentalism infused with fantastical pop on his latest solo LP Black Bubblegum, out today via DFA. Listen/Share: "On"& "Rip It" + "Rip It (Sporting Life Remix)"

Initially Copeland had no plans to release this collection of tunes. This invariably influenced the creation of Black Bubblegum, allowing Copeland with the unique freedom that comes from making music never intended to be heard, let alone released.

Recorded at the old Black Dice practice space in Williamsburg Brooklyn, the album - which features singles "On"& "Rip It" - sees Copeland embrace a new sound that is oddly easy to digest despite its rejection of melody in favour of discord. Imagine Arthur Russell going into the studio with the Ramones... The title of the LP says it all: chewy, sticky pop that is dank with viscid tar...the result is music oh so sweet to chew on...

In addition to dropping his new LP this week, Copeland also shared a brand new "Rip It (Sporting Life Remix)"

Eric Copeland has been sound clashing at full volume for over twenty years, first carving out a name for himself as one third of the legendary NY-via-Providence band Black Dice. A wildly prolific solo artist, Copeland has played s houses, party palaces and seemingly everything in between all over the world. A long time Brooklyn resident, Eric recently relocated to Palma de Mallorca, Spain. While maintaining a relatively humble and low key presence in a highly competitive musical world, he continues to release a prolific amount of music every year through indie labels such as L.I.E.S., Escho (Iceage), PPM (No Age), Paw Tracks (Animal Collective) and DFA.
