Charlotte Gainsbourg Announces Limited Edition Companion Book For REST

Charlotte Gainsbourg has today announced Rest, a companion book for her 2017 critically acclaimed album of the same name. Classsic and Because Music release the book on March 25.

The Rest book is Charlotte's first endeavor translating her artistry onto the page. It gives a glimpse into the making of the album, told through her own photographs, lyrics, handwritten notes and drawings - a collection of Charlotte's mementos created during the album's conception in Paris, New York and London.

This collector's item, limited to 1,000 copies, draws its black and silver aesthetic from the album. It alternates contemplative two-color pictures in black and silver, with sketches and lyric drafts printed on journal paper -offering the reader a unique experience.

Charlotteembarks on a U.S. tour in April, including stops in Boston, Washington, D.C., New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The tour will also include her previously announced performances at Coachella, and comes in support of her most recent releases, the Take 2 EP and her last studio album, Rest.

Produced by SebastiAn (Frank Ocean, Kavinsky) and mixed by Tom Elmhirst (Adele, Lorde, David Bowie), Gainsbourg's last studio album Rest was released in late 2017 and was her first in seven years. The album featured named Best New Music by Pitchfork and was described as "gorgeous and assured" by NPR, while the New York Times observed "Rest is an album that comes directly from her heart." The Album is certified gold at the international by UPFI. The eleven songs on 'Rest' are nothing if not sure-footed, proffering a compelling fusion of gleaming, string-emblazonedmodern electro-pop and cinematically textured avant-chanson-their magical music box melodies kissed by bruised, introspective, occasionally disquieting lyrics.
