Andrew Bird's new Spotify-exclusive digital EP, Are We Not Burning: The Devolution of Capsized, is out today on Loma Vista Recordings. The EP follows the evolution of the track "Capsized," the first single from Bird's critically acclaimed recent full-length record Are You Serious, out now also via Loma Vista Recordings. Are We Not Burning features five unique takes of the song, tracing its development alongside commentary from Bird about the creative process behind each version. See below for a complete track list. Bird recently premiered a lyric video for the album version of "Capsized," view/share it at https://youtu.be/2Y5rqUYDl1U.

"I think the reason it ['Capsized'] has this staying power, there are just a few songs in your lifetime that can do this, where you can play them every night and it doesn't feel like you're being penned in by the music," Bird explained to NPR's "All Songs Considered." "It changes because you feel different as a person from one hour to the next throughout the day and it's rare to have a song that can change with you. Sometimes certain things come out of me that I don't expect and it just adapts to how I feel. And that's how I felt at that moment."

Bird recently completed U.S. and European tours in support of Are You Serious. He is set to wrap up the year with upcoming shows highlighted by a performance at New York City's Carnegie Hall on December 12, where he will play music from the new album as well as material from throughout his storied career.

Bird will also play the Tarrytown Music Hall on December 10 before returning to Chicago to reprise his intimate, solo Gezelligheid performances at the Fourth Presbyterian Church December 14-16. Appropriating a Dutch term that loosely translates to "cozy," the performances concentrate mainly on instrumental violin pieces amplified only by Bird's signature giant Victrola horns. Bird will kick off 2017 by touring with The Lumineers in January before traveling to Australia for performances at the world-renowned Byron Bay Bluesfest, Sydney Opera House and Melbourne Recital Hall. See below for a complete list of dates.

In addition to his live performances, Bird has launched a new Facebook Live series streamed live from his living room, "Live from the Great Room," in which he puts the creative process on display for fans as he performs and converses with friends and collaborators in a candid, intimate setting. Previous guests include Fiona Apple, Matt Berninger of The National, Jim James of My Morning Jacket, Jimbo Mathus of the Squirrel Nut Zippers, Chris Thile, Blake Mills, John C. Reilly and Tom Brosseau.

Chicago-born, LA-based film score composer, multi-instrumentalist and lyricist, Andrew Bird picked up his first violin at the age of four and spent his formative years soaking up classical repertoire completely by ear. As a teen Bird became interested in a variety of styles including early jazz, country blues and gypsy music, synthesizing them into his unique brand of pop. Since beginning his recording career in 1997, he has released 12 albums, his first solo record Weather Systems coming in 2003.
