The Chase Brock Experience Offering First-Ever Master Class Intensive for 10th Anniversary

The Chase Brock Experience (CBE), a Brooklyn-based contemporary dance company, recently announced they will celebrate their 10th Anniversary NY Season at Theatre Row's Clurman Theatre from November 27 - December 9, 2017.

To further commemorate the company's first 10 years, CBE is excited to announce that they will offer the first-ever CBE Intensive from December 5 through December 8, 2017.

The CBE Intensive, taught by current company members, will consist of a four-day master class series centering on the repertory being presented later this month during the company's 10th Anniversary NYC Season. Helmed by the Director of Education, Ashley Eichbauer Newman, the CBE Intensive will cover the various dance forms found within the repertory, injury prevention and wellness practices by specialist Michelle J. Bomacie, as well as a special workshop in composition where Artistic Director & Choreographer Chase Brock will construct a new and original piece featuring the intensive participants.

There are a limited number of scholarships available for the CBE Intensive. Interested Scholarship Applicants will be asked for the following additional items: Written Artist Statement, 1 page in length and two short clips of you dancing two contrasting styles, 30-60 seconds each clip. The CBE Intensive will take place 10AM to 4PM daily, beginning Tuesday, December 5 and continuing through Friday, December 8, 2017, onstage at Theatre Row's Clurman Theatre (412 W 42nd Street). As previously announced, The Chase Brock Experience will celebrate its first decade with a two-week engagement November 27 - December 9, at Theatre Row's Clurman Theatre (located at412 W 42nd Street). Founded in 2007, The Chase Brock Experience has premiered 30 dances and six commissioned scores in New York seasons at Joyce SoHo, Abrons Arts Center, Dance New Amsterdam, Baruch Performing Arts Center and The Connelly Theater, as well in concert with The Pit Stop Players at Symphony Space. CBE has appeared in La MaMa Moves!, Hudson Valley Dance Festival, Fire Island Dance Festival, Downtown Dance Festival and Dance from the Heart, and at The Joyce Theater, Jacob's Pillow, PS21 Chatham, 92Y, Broadway's New Amsterdam Theatre and on tour from North Carolina to Maine. CBE has been in residence at Robert Wilson's Watermill Center, The Orchard Project and Catskill Mountain Foundation. In addition, CBE created the dance numbers and served as the animation references for Ubisoft's bestselling video game Dance on Broadway for Nintendo Wii and PlayStation Move. Chasing Dance, a documentary about the company by filmmakers Mathieu Mazza, Tracy Mazza and Stephanie Slewka, was nominated for two New England Emmy Awards and is available on DVD.

ABOUT THE CREATIVE TEAM:

Chase Brock (Artistic Director/Choreographer) Called "prolific" in both The New Yorkerand The New York Times, Brock is a 34-year old choreographer working in concert dance, theater, ballet, opera, television and video games. In addition to 30 dances for The Chase BrockExperience, Brock's choreography includes Broadway's Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark andPicnic; the stage adaptation of Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame currently playing in long-running German and Japanese productions; The Blue Flower (Second Stage, Lortel nomination for Outstanding Choreography), Tamar of the River (Callaway Award finalist for Choreography) and A Midsummer Night's Dream (Shakespeare in the Park); "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver" (HBO) and "Late Show with David Letterman" (CBS); the bestselling video game Dance on Broadway for Nintendo Wii and PlayStation Move; Bartlett Sher's production of Gounod's Roméo et Juliette (The Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Salzburger Festspiele); and Misfit Motion Makers (New York Theatre Ballet). Teaching includes The Juilliard School, Yale School of Drama, Barnard College/Columbia University, University of the Arts, Marymount Manhattan College, Montclair State University, Pace University, UNC-Wilmington. Ashley Eichbauer NEWMAN (Director of Education; Company Member) holds a BFA in Theatre from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and a Master's Degree in Middle School General and Special Education from Bank Street College. Ashley danced with The Chase Brock Experiencefor five years where she was the Assistant Artistic Director and Director of Education. She will also be dancing in this special 10th Anniversary season! With CBE, Ashley performed at the Theater at Dance New Amsterdam, The Joyce SoHo, Baruch Performing Arts Center, Abrons Arts Center, La Mama, and The Connelly Theater. She has danced in benefits for DRA including the Fire Island Dance Festival, Gypsy of the Year, and Dancin' Downtown at the Joyce. Ashley is featured in the documentary Chasing Dance. Other credits include: Paper Mill Playhouse, Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, The Great Observer (film choreographed by Hinton Battle), Baltimore's CenterStage(assistant choreographer), the Tomlinson Theater at Temple University (choreographer), So You Think You Can Dance, Dance on Broadway for the Nintendo Wii and PlayStation Move (assistant choreographer). Ashley is a Teaching Artist for Lincoln Center Education, a Vinyasa Yoga Teacher, and has been on the dance faculty of CAP21 since 2006.

MICHELLE J. BOMACIE (L.Ac., L.M.T.; Guest Wellness Specialist) Michelle places great emphasis in her work on seeing her patient's health challenges within the context of the whole person. She feels this is necessary for determining the individualized treatment that is of maximum benefit to her patient. Michelle specializes in chronic-stress disorders and myofascial pain, using massage therapy and other bodywork therapies as complements to the acupuncture treatment.

Michelle has been in private practice since 2005. She received her Master of Science degree in acupuncture from Tri-State College of Acupuncture. She is currently a member of the College's core faculty, teaching bioscience courses as well as supervising clinical-practice classes.For several years Michelle was affiliated with the Center of Comprehensive Wellness, Integrative Therapies Program for Children with Cancer at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University. At the hospital she provided acupuncture and massage therapy for child and adolescent oncology patients as well as their families. With a background as a professional dancer and a previous career as a dance instructor Michelle has an active interest in dance and body movement, a qualification she draws on in assisting her patients with their health challenges.

Ryan Jackson (Company Member) has been touring the country with Broadway's biggest blockbuster, Wicked, as a Broadway Connection Teacher for four years. A proud member of Actors Equity, Ryan holds a B.F.A. from Marymount Manhattan College and studied on full-scholarship with The Joffrey Ballet and The School at Jacob's Pillow. Theater credits include national tours ofCATS, Dr. Dolittle, West Side Story, Paper Mill Playhouse, Houston T.U.T.S., Atlanta Theater Of The Stars, Goodspeed Opera House, Westchester Broadway, Walnut St. Theater, Portland Center Stage, Ford's Theater, Wolf Trap, Kansas City Starlight, New York City Center Encores! and Radio City Music Hall. Ryan, a founding member of The Chase Brock Experience, helped establish CBE in 2007.

COURTNEY ORTIZ (Company Member) is a 2007 youngARTS award winner for Modern Dance. Some of her favorite credits include: The Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Ray Mercer'sPure Motion presented by BC/EFA, Broadway Bares, and West Side Story -International Tour. She has been seen on TV back up dancing for PSY, Chris Brown and Heidi Klum. Most Recently, Courtney returned from the 1st National Tour of Finding Neverland and this summer, performed in her dream musical In The Heights at Pittsburgh CLO. Courtney joined The Chase BrockExperience in 2016.

Micki Weiner (Company Member) returns to NYC after two and a half years with the Phantom of the Opera National Tour, as an original cast member. Other credits include Zorro (Dance Captain/ International Tour), How To Succeed in Business (Ensemble/Goodspeed Opera), and New York Theatre Ballet. Micki has worked with Chase on numerous projects including The Tempest (Associate Choreographer/The Public Theater), The Nutcracker (Assistant Choreographer & Dance Captain/Flat Rock Playhouse), Dance On Broadway (Dancer/Nintendo Wii & PS3), and Pippin (Assistant Choreographer/Kansas City Repertory Theater). Micki joined The Chase BrockExperience in 2008.
