Tanner Dance to Light Up the Stage at RDT's 'Ring Around the Rose'

Repertory Dance Theatre's 20th anniversary season of "Ring Around the Rose" continues with Tanner Dance on November 11, 2017.

Celebrating the art of creative dance, this Utah dance staple will present an interactive show for all ages at both 11:00 am and a special added show at 1:00 pm.

This year marks the 80th anniversary year of remarkable and innovative dance teaching established by Virginia Tanner. It was her wish to "bring a measure of beauty into the lives of children" while encouraging them to see the world with a "magic eye"; an eye for beauty, compassion, acceptance, courage, truth and creativity all connected to their voice through dance.

In celebration of their 80th anniversary, Tanner Dance will offer "Make A Wish" in celebration of wishes, hopes, ideals and aspirations that take us to our furthest imaginings. RDT's Ring Around the Rose is excited to offer two showings of this incredible show at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center.

Confident that the use of wholesome creative activity allows young people of all ages to develop alert minds, healthy bodies, and strong character, Virginia Tanner established the Tanner Dance Program in 1937. Her founding philosophy has become an enduring legacy of almost eight decades. Today, the program complements and extends the University of Utah's mission of teaching, research and service, serving more than 40,000 students annually on campus and at satellite locations, as well as in elementary schools and community centers throughout Utah.

Ring Around The Rose is a wiggle-friendly series of performances for children and families that explores the magical world of the arts including dance, theatre, music and storytelling. All shows begin at 11:00am at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, 138 W Broadway, SLC. Shows are $5 (kids 2 and under are free).
