Now its sixth year, the Riverside Dance Festival is an intensive, two-week dance program that culminates with a performance on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 2pm.

Begun in 2012 under the direction of Adam Schnell, Director of Dance Education at Riverside Theatre and Artistic Director of Ballet Vero Beach, the Riverside Dance Festival is a unique experience in intensive summer study for ages 10 and up.

From July 24 - August 5, accepted students from the local area and around the country will experience day-to-day life with New York's acclaimed Ariel Rivka Dance (ARD), this year's selected professional dance troupe.

Students will have the opportunity to take daily classes in Ballet and Contemporary Dance forms from ARD and Riverside's own distinguished faculty. Students will participate in master classes, open rehearsals, and work towards the creation of their own work to be performed alongside ARD in a mixed repertory concert that culminates the festival on August 5.

"I am very excited to have ARD as the invited company this year," says Mr. Schnell. "They were our runner up company when we did a search two years ago. I am so impressed by the artistic director's vision of an all-female troupe that not only presents visually stunning and well-structured choreography, but also relies heavily on the use of original music. It is also nice to finally have a company from New York City."

Founded in 2007, ARD is a critically acclaimed all-female contemporary dance company led by a married choreographer/composer team, Ariel Grossman (Artistic Director/Choreographer) and David Homan (Executive Director/Composer). Based in New York/New Jersey, ARD is committed to creating work with new music that explores emotionally driven movement with underlying currents of technique and structure.

A dance performance will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 2pm. The performance will take place at the conclusion of RT Star's Back to School Party, which runs from 10am to 2pm.

Tickets for dance performance are FREE. For more information on the Riverside Dance Festival or RT Star's back To School Party, call the Box Office at 772-231-6990 or online at www.riversidetheatre.com.

Riverside Theatre is located at 3250 Riverside Park Drive, Vero Beach. Riverside Theatre programs are sponsored in part by the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs and the Florida Arts Council, and the National Endowment for the Arts. Riverside Theatre is a member of the Cultural Council of Indian River County, the Indian River Chamber of Commerce, and the Sebastian River Area Chamber of Commerce.
