Heidi Duckler Dance Announces Annual Gala Celebration!
Heidi Duckler Dance (HDD) invites you to an evening honoring fearless female leaders in Los Angeles at their 33rd annual gala celebration on Saturday, November 3, 2018, 6pm, at the Cooper Design Space in the 11th floor penthouse, 860 S. Los Angeles St., Los Angeles, CA 90014.
To Think is an Act, To Feel is a Fact takes its name from a quote by Jewish Brazilian writer Clarice Lispector's 1977 novel The Hour of the Star, and implies themes paramount to Heidi Duckler Dance's work-intuition, intimacy, and above all, engagement. The gala celebrates the creative ways in which women have led Los Angeles, and marks the dawn of a new age of female empowerment. We are proud to present this gala at the Cooper Design Space in downtown, Los Angeles. As such, we are pleased to honor Los Angeles Department of Transportation General Manager Seleta Reynolds with our Civic Dedication Award and Charles R Drew University of Medicine and Science Special Assistant to the President for Community Relations Sylvia Drew Ivie with the Social Impact Award. The evening is emceed by Jon Cohn, managing producer for KPCC In Person, the content events and engagement platform for NPR affiliate KPCC, Southern California Public Radio and will include an interactive sound sculpture by sound artist, Davy Sumner, a soft sculpture garden by Mimi Haddon and performances by HDD core company dancers!
