On March 18th, the Adrienne Arsht Center's curtains will open to the highly anticipated reimagined production of Miami City Ballet's A Midsummer Night's Dream. Including all-new sets and costumes by famed artist Michele Oka Doner and dramatic direction by playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney, the unprecedented performance will bring Miami City Ballet's landmark 30th Anniversary Season to a close.

Miami City Ballet transformed the masterpiece after being granted rare permission from The George Balanchine Trust. Originally set in the forest, the tale will be reimagined to take place on the ocean floor of Miami Beach. With the help of famed playwright, director and actor Tarell Alvin McCraney, artistic director Lourdes Lopez was able to bring this unique vision to life. Michele Oka Doner, a Miami Beach native, drew her inspiration for the costumes for the production from local marine life.

Balanchine's classic choreography is the vehicle for Shakespeare's timeless tale of love, magic and illusion, with ravishing music by Felix Mendelssohn - including the famous Wedding March. This reimagining includes all-new sets and costumes by artist Michele Oka Doner, and dramatic direction by playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney.

With a fairytale cast that includes 24 children and six vocalists, magical new sets and costumes, and the breathtaking Miami City Ballet dancers accompanied by the Opus One Orchestra, A Midsummer Night's Dream is a dazzling spectacle for families and audiences of all ages.
