REDCAT Set To Present A One-Night Engagement Of THE LINDAS On 10/10
By: Reynard Loki
REDCAT (the Roy and Edna Disney/CalArts Theater) welcomes back to its theater The California E.A.R. Unit performing a one-night engagement of world premieres entitled The Lindas on Saturday, October 10, 2009.
For the Los Angeles-based ensemble's upcoming performance at REDCAT, core players Eric Clark (violin), Vicki Ray (piano) and Amy Knoles (percussion) are joined by Jim Sullivan (clarinet) and Peter Jackson (cello). Turning their refined attentions to composers named Linda, the group premieres Wanderer by the brilliant Canadian composer Linda Catlin Smith, commissioned by the Unit; the sensuous multimedia work Forecast by fellow Canadian Linda Bouchard; and the haunting Moonsick by Dublin-based Linda Buckley. The egalitarian program does extend fearlessly into non-Linda territory: After Forgetting, a sizzling new work by Keeril Makan, who was also commissioned by the Unit, and Daniel Salecich's mesmerizing Generator (urban speed time-out).The performances at REDCAT are funded in part with generous support from The George and MaryLou Boone Fund for Artistic Advancement. The California E.A.R. Unit: The Lindas performs on October 10, 2009 at REDCAT. Curtain is 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $20, with student discounts available. Seating is general admission.
