Phoenix Chorale Performs MIX TAPE 4/28-30

By:

The votes have been tallied and the results are in for the Phoenix Chorale's final concert of the season, MIX TAPE. Audiences submitted nearly 250 of their favorite choral selections and voted on their top ten favorite pieces, with the most popular songs to be performed at the Phoenix Chorale's MIX TAPE concerts, April 28-30 (detailed schedule below).

Tickets for MIX TAPE are $32 Adult / $27 Senior & Military / $13 Student and are on sale at phoenixchorale.org or by calling 602-253-2224. (Please note: tickets are $5 more on the day of show.)

MIX TAPE includes some of the most technically demanding and exquisite pieces in the choral repertoire. From the Renaissance If Ye Love Me (Thomas Tallis) and Baroque Der Geist hilft (J.S. Bach) to contemporary choral masterpieces including Morten Lauridsen's O Magnum Mysterium and Eric Whitacre's Leonard Dreams of His Flying Machine, this concert will offer music for everyone.

Other highlights include James Taylor's gentle ballad, That Lonesome Road, along with

Jerusalem and Dulaman by Michael McGlynn who received the most song submissions from the audience. Selections from the Chorale's popular recordings include Abendlied

from Josef Rheinberger's Sacred Choral Works and Canticum Calamitatis Maritimaæ from Eternal Rest. The Chorale will also perform the #1 requested song of the audience, Leonard Cohen's glorious Hallelujah.

And, if audiences missed out on the voting process, they will have one more chance to cast their vote from a selection of pieces to be performed as the encore at the concerts each day.

"This was such a fun process for all of us at the Phoenix Chorale as well as our dedicated, friends and fans. There were so many challenging and beautiful pieces suggested - we all had our favorites, and after all the votes were counted to create the program, the result became a dream. The concert will be amazing for us to perform and we are sure it will blow our audiences away." - Charles Bruffy, Phoenix Chorale Artistic Director
