'Name That Tune' Faculty Concert to Open Music Institute 2015-16 Season

Music Institute of Chicago opens its 2015-16 season showcasing its stellar faculty in an engaging concert program, "Name That Tune: Classical Gems with Memorable Monikers," Saturday, September 19 at 7:30 p.m. at Nichols Concert Hall, 1490 Chicago Ave., Evanston.

Members of the Music Institute's impressive faculty, now numbering more than 150, perform classical favorites that have become known by their musical nicknames. The program and musicians to date include:

Haydn's Quartet in D Minor, Op. 76, No. 2 "Quinten"-Julie Fischer, violin; Addison Teng, violin; Aimee Biasiello, viola; TBD, cello

Mahler's Des Knaben Wunderhorn (St. Anthony of Padua's Sermon to the Fish)-voice and piano faculty, TBD

Chopin's Étude Op. 10, No. 12 in C Minor "Revolutionary" and Étude Op. 25, No. 1 in A Flat Major "Aeolian Harp"-Sung Hoon Mo, piano

Telemann's "Paris Quartet" No. 1 in D Major TWV 43-Patrick O'Malley, flute de voix (recorder in D); Shigetoshi Yamada, baroque violin; Phillip Serna, viola da gamba; Joel Spears, theorbo

The Music Institute of Chicago is dedicated to transforming lives through music education. The Music Institute's 2015-16 Faculty and Guest Artist Concert Series at Nichols Concert Hall continues with Syrian musician Issam Rafea and his Trio October 18; the Music Institute's sixth annual Jazz Festival, this year celebrating women in jazz-Anat Cohen Quartet November 19, Tammy McCann November 20, and Dee Dee Bridgewater November 21; and two concerts celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Music Institute's Academy for gifted pre-college musicians, one on February 20 and the other, featuring alumni Rachel Barton Pine and Matthew Lipman, May 14.

"Name That Tune: Classical Gems with Memorable Monikers" takes place Saturday, September 19 at 7:30 p.m. at Nichols Concert Hall, 1490 Chicago Avenue in Evanston.
