Marc Hayutin & Eugene Ohr Join Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra Board

Santa Monica residents Marc Hayutin and Eugene Ohr have been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (LACO) for three-year terms, announces LACO President K. Eugene Shutler. Hayutin is head partner at Sidley Austin's Los Angeles Real Estate Group and Co-Global Coordinator for the firm's world-wide Real Estate Practice Area Team. Ohr serves as a senior vice president and investment analyst at the Capital Group Companies. LACO, one of the nation's leading orchestras, is renowned for its wide-ranging repertoire and adventurous commissioning initiatives.

Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (LACO), proclaimed "America's finest chamber orchestra" by Public Radio International, has established itself among the world's top musical ensembles. Since 1997, LACO has performed under the baton of acclaimed conductor and pianist Jeffrey Kahane, hailed by critics as "visionary" and "a conductor of uncommon intellect, insight and musical integrity" with "undeniable charisma." Under Kahane's leadership, the Orchestra maintains its status as a preeminent interpreter of historical masterworks and a champion of contemporary composers. During its 45-year history, the Orchestra has made 30 recordings, toured Europe, South America and Japan, performed across North America, earning adulation from audiences and critics alike, and garnered eight ASCAP Awards for Adventurous Programming. Headquartered in downtown Los Angeles, LACO presents seven Orchestral Series concerts on Saturdays at Pasadena's Ambassador Auditorium or Glendale's Alex Theatre and Sundays at UCLA's Royce Hall, five Baroque Conversations concerts at downtown Los Angeles' Zipper Concert Hall, three Westside Connections chamber music concerts at the Moss Theatre at New Roads School in Santa Monica and an annual Discover concert at Pasadena's Ambassador Auditorium. Attorney MARC HAYUTIN is the head partner of Sidley Austin's Los Angeles Real Estate Group and Co-Global Coordinator for the Firm's world-wide Real Estate Practice Area Team. Hayutin has experience in corporate finance, real estate and partnership matters, including residential, hotel, and commercial development and purchase, sale, sale leasebacks, finance and restructuring both inside and outside bankruptcy. His practice has also involved negotiation and restructuring of numerous general and limited partnerships and limited liability companies. He has extensive experience in strategic counseling concerning significant real estate litigation matters, from inception through settlement or trial. Most recently, Hayutin has been recognized by Chambers USA, Legal 500 and The Best Lawyers in America as a leading real estate lawyer. Born in Denver, Colorado, Hayutin earned an undergraduate degree from Stanford University, spending his sophomore year in France. He attended Harvard Law School and moved to Los Angeles after graduation. He and wife, Stephanie, a psychotherapist, were among the co-founders of the Santa Monica Synagogue and both have served as its president. Marc has also served on the advisory board of the local chapter of the ACLU of Southern California and, prior to that, on the board of the forerunner to Public Counsel. He currently holds the office of chairman for Skid Row Housing Trust, where he has been a board member for eight years. Marc and Stephanie live in Santa Monica and have two grown children and four grandchildren.

EUGENE MINSUK OHR, a senior vice president and investment analyst at the Capital Group Companies, holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is based in Los Angeles. He joined Capital in 1991 as a participant in the Associates Program and spent time in the Tokyo office between 1996 and 2001. His current research responsibilities include generalist coverage of Korea and Australia. An alumnus of Harvard University, his studies focused on American history. Born in Boston, Massachusetts and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, Ohr's exposure to classical music was mainly through piano lessons from age six. His interest really took hold as a young teen, and he continued to play throughout high school and his first year of college. As time for practicing dwindled, he remained linked to music through volunteer work at Boston radio station WHRB-FM, where the station's massive library of historic and modern performances fed his love for the repertoire and expanded his horizons. At the same time, the foundations of what would become his professional career were shaped by WHRB's business department. Ohr has served on several boards, including the Korean American Museum. He also sat on the finance committees of Westwood United Methodist Church and the First United Methodist Church of Santa Monica, where he currently holds the office of Vice President. He and wife Catherine live in Santa Monica with their two daughters, Isabella, age six, and Olivia, age four, who have begun their own piano lessons. His other interests include golf, astronomy and cycling.
