Recently, The Elisabeth Morrow School Orchestra was selected to perform the national anthem for Run10, Feed 10, a 10 kilometer race in support of hunger relief. This performance marked the second year in a row that the Orchestra performed at Run 10, Feed 10; the Orchestra also performed at the inaugural race last year. Sponsored by Unilever, Women's Health, the FEED Foundation and Crowdrise, Run 10, Feed 10 provides 10 meals for every 10 kilometers that runners complete. Naya Rivera, of Fox Television's Glee, was one of the many celebrity guests on hand and spoke of the importance and efficacy of the race.

Amelia Gold, Orchestra Director at EMS, which is renowned for its music programs, said that participating in this event means much more than just another opportunity for her students to perform. "Hunger continues to be a pervasive, yet solvable, problem in this area and the entire country. The Elisabeth Morrow School was happy to do its part by providing music for the event, as well as having its faculty run the race to feed our neighbors who need our help."

Head of School, Aaron Cooper, Middle School Head, Paul Baly, and Violin Faculty, Brittany Sklar, all participated in the race and fundraised for the cause.

"At our school, our students are taught our philosophy of the 4'Cs, one of which stands for compassion," says Cooper. "In our community, we strive to ensure that students have many opportunities to practice that virtue, and this is another chance to do just that."
