The Sheldon presents Debby Lennon and Carolbeth True: Gershwin!, Tuesday and Wednesday, October 6 and 7, 2009 at 10 a.m. in the perfect acoustics of the Sheldon Concert Hall. Enjoy complimentary coffee and pastries at 9 a.m. in the beautiful Louis Spiering Room. With Carolbeth True on piano and Debby Lennon contributing her jazzy vocals, two of St. Louis' top talents join together for this tribute to American composer and pianist George Gershwin.

With her own teaching practice in classical and jazz piano, Carolbeth True is known as one of St. Louis' most talented and active pianists. True has performed as a soloist and with groups such as The Carolbeth Trio, The Hard Bop Heritage Quintet, the Sessions Big Band and the Trinity Ensemble, in various jazz clubs. In addition to performing with these ensembles, True is an original cast member of the Sheldon Concert Hall's "The Jazz Story," a performance created for the educational program at The Sheldon. She has also worked as a pianist for the St. Louis Muny, Webster University, St. Louis Symphony and Jacksonville Symphony. She has received numerous awards for her talent, including the 2007 "St. Louis Arts Award for Excellence in the Arts" by the Arts and Education Council of St. Louis.

A native of St. Louis, Debby Lennon has studied vocal performance at Fontbonne College, Washington University, and the L'ecole Hindemith in Switzerland. She was a member of the St. Louis Symphony Chorus for eleven seasons, making her solo debut with the St. Louis Symphony at Carnegie Hall in 1992. A founding member of the a cappella octet, Pieces of 8, she has performed with the group for the past eight years. In the St. Louis Metropolitan area, Lennon is an active freelance artist, a staff member at Webster University, a vocal instructor at St. Joseph's Academy, and maintains her own private studio. In 2005, she released her first solo album, "I'm All Smiles" at sold out performances at Finale Music and Dining in St. Louis.
