Canton Symphony Orchestra Releases Schedule for 2016-17 Season; Tickets On Sale, 7/18

The Canton Symphony Orchestra (CSO) will put single tickets for all of their 2016-17 concerts on sale Monday July 18. "In the past, we've started our single ticket sales in September," notes President and CEO Michelle Mullaly, "but this year, we didn't see the need to make our patrons wait." The season includes 7 MasterWorks concerts, 3 Pops concerts and a Benefit Concert. Subscriptions for the MasterWorks and Pops Series are also available.

The MasterWorks Series, performed in Umstattd Performing Arts Hall at the Zimmermann Symphony Center, features classical works and nationally known guest artists. The MasterWorks concert schedule is:

  • Saturday October 1, 2016 @ 8:00pm featuring pianist Sara Davis Buechner
  • Saturday October 29, 2016 @ 8:00pm featuring violinist Jinjoo Cho
  • Saturday November 19, 2016 @ 8:00pm featuring violinists Vivek Jayaraman, Solomon Liang, Emily Cornelius and Rachel Sandman
  • Saturday January 28, 2017 @ 8:00pm featuring music by Suppé, Schubert and Strauss
  • Saturday February 25, 2017 @ 8:00pm featuring the winner of the 2016 Cleveland International Piano Competition
  • Saturday March 25, 2017 @ 8:00pm featuring music by Beethoven, Berwald, Liszt and Rossini
  • Saturday April 29, 2017 @ 8:00pm featuring the Canton Symphony Chorus and vocal soloists Karen Slack, Kathryn Findlen, Tim Culver and Nathan Stark

The Pops Series offers an orchestra experience through popular and familiar music. The Pops Concert schedule is:

  • The Music of Bowie and Prince - Thursday November 10, 2016 @ 8:00pm in Umstattd Performing Arts Hall
  • A Swingin' Holiday - Sunday December 4, 2016 @ 3:00pm in Umstattd Performing Arts Hall
  • Speedbumps with the Symphony - Saturday February 11, 2017 @ 8:00pm at the Canton Palace Theatre

The CSO will also perform a benefit concert with proceeds supporting the Canton Symphony Orchestra Endowment.

  • Saturday May 13, 2017 @ 7:30pm in Umstattd Performing Arts Hall featuring pianist Jim Brickman

Founded in 1937, the Canton Symphony Orchestra is a fully professional ensemble and organization dedicated to performing concerts that enrich, educate and entertain. Under the direction of Gerhardt Zimmermann, the orchestra performs classical, pops, holiday, and educational programs.
