A2SO & Link Up to Present 3rd-5th Graders in Concert, 3/16/16

By:

The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra is excited to be partnering with Carnegie Hall to bring the music education program Link Up to dozens of schools in Southeast Michigan. On March 16, 2016, thousands of 3rd-5th grade studentsfrom schools all over the region will come together at Hill Auditorium to play their recorders and sing along with the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra. These students will have spent the preceding months studying classical music using materials provided by Carnegie Hall. They will have moved to Bizet's Toreador in the classroom, practiced playing Mendelssohn's Nocturne from A Midsummer Night's Dreamon their recorders, sung Strauss's Blue Danube Waltz with their classmates, and composed their own pieces inspired by Beethoven's Fifth Symphony. In a program entitled "The Orchestra Moves," these students will celebrate what they've learned about classical music in an engaging and interactive concert. Spots are still available for schools that wish to participate in Link Up this year. Make sure the kids in your life aren't missing the opportunity to be a part of this exciting experience.
