Playwright Daniel Beaty Gives a Motivational Presentation and Signs Books at the Hartford Stage Today

Breath & Imagination playwright Daniel Beaty's national book tour makes a stop at Hartford Stage. Join Daniel for Transforming Pain to Power, a free motivational presentation and book signing today, March 8, 2014, from 2-4 p.m.

Transforming Pain to Power is a 45-minute motivational performance during which Daniel Beaty shares his journey from growing up with a father who was a heroin addict and dealer, and an older brother who was addicted to crack cocaine, to discovering his purpose by watching Dr. Martin Luther King, graduating from Yale University, and developing his current career as an internationally renowned actor, singer, and writer (Resurrection at Hartford Stage and The Tallest Tree in the Forest, now at Arena Stage in D.C.)

Daniel says, "My goal with writing Transforming Pain to Power and offering these presentations around the country is to inspire people to know that no matter where we come from, or what we are going through, we have the ability to create extraordinary lives."

This presentation is about the triumph of faith over adversity and includes poetry, music, and character excerpts from his award-winning plays. Past engagements have ranged from The White House to church & corporate events, to school performances from elementary through university level.
