Moore's FRECKLEFACE Musical to Open Off-Broadway this September?

Contactmusic.com reports that FRECKLEFACE STRAWBERRY: THE MUSICAL, based on the children's book by JuliAnne Moore, may find a home off-Broadway this September.

Moore told WENN, "It's really fun and weird because I have little to do with it. They optioned the book and decided to do it. It's kind of fun and interesting to see it. I saw a workshop they did with children and a workshop they did with adults. I think they're gonna mount the show with young adults playing kids because it's difficult getting really little kids to do this kind of stuff. The music is charming. It was a lot of fun to watch. It's opening in September off-Broadway."

As previously reported by BroadwayWorld, Manhattan Movement & Arts Center (MMAC) presented the world premiere workshop of FRECKLEFACE STRAWBERRY: THE MUSICAL. MMAC Productions, located on the Upper West Side, debuted the musical on July 1st for a two-day workshop run. The first of many MMAC productions, FRECKLEFACE is about childhood, acceptance and friendship.

"This show is truly breathtaking," said Rose Caiola, owner and director of MMAC. "It reaches out to everyone - children and adults alike. Everyone has faced some type of prejudice in their childhood whether it had to do with race, religion or the clothes they choose to wear. The music and choreography bring FRECKLEFACE to life."
