THE VILLAGES, Fla.

After conducting much genealogical research about his roots, Herbert Siegel wanted to know more about his grandfather, Solomon Siegel. He has many of Solomon's Yiddish writings and believes they will provide more insights to his life and work.

"The Soul of Solomon Siegel" (published by Xlibris) shares with readers the translated literary work handwritten in Yiddish by Solomon Siegel, an Orthodox Jew. Compiled by his grandson Herbert, this book expresses through songs, poems and speeches, Torah interpretations and celebrations of the innermost feeling of what Solomon feels as a Jew. It also reveals the joys and sorrows of the Jewish community in Brooklyn, N.Y.

"This book will appeal to readers because it offers a new perspective and interpretations of writings in Yiddish from an ordinary person in an Orthodox Jewish community," says Herbert. "The subjects Solomon has written about are the personal feelings that emanate from being an immigrant from Poland into a new country and being able to practice his religion with freedom."

With the publication of "The Soul of Solomon Siegel," Herbert hopes that readers will have a renewed belief that as long as there are Jewish men and women with a strong sense of faith, Judaism as a religion will survive the test of time.
