Review: THE ART & MAKING OF THE GREATEST SHOWMAN is a Beautiful and Intriguing Book

The Greatest Showman took seven years of pre-production, planning and development. We love that "The Art & Making of The Greatest Showman" takes you behind the scenes and includes insightful personal interviews from the exceptionally talented, dedicated cast and crew that made it all happen.

In the book, Director Michael Gracey states, "Getting a script right is a challenge unto itself." He continues, "In a narrative sense, in musical theatre, you need to be able to tell as story through song. That's the trait of musical theater. But For the Greatest Showman, I also wanted those hooks that you have in pop songs where a tune just gets stuck in your head. And so, if musical theater is here and pop music is there, we wanted to sit somewhere in the middle...Balance was everything."

Moviegoers and music lovers will be delighted by the film's original score written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. The book contains the lyrics to the fabulous musical numbers that includes "Come Alive" and "From Now On."

The book also has commentary by Hugh Jackman. He speaks of the legendary man he portrays in the film. "Barnum is what we would describe now as a disruptor, an outlier. He thought life was about fun, imagination, hard work. Think of his quote, 'Life is what you choose to make it.'"

"The Art & Making of The Greatest Showman" is a book that is truly magical as you discover all the research, creativity, and meticulous endeavor that went into making a film about one of the world's most fascinating circus shows and the infamous man behind it, P.T. Barnum. This is a book that will be a treasured keepsake.
