Happy April, Coach House friends. Some guy may have thought it cruel, but we're pretty sure that if he had known about National Poetry Month he'd have been into it-we sure are! In fact, to celebrateNational Poetry Month, for the month of April we're discounting all of our backlist poetry titles by 30% (so everything but our three soon-to-be-launched Spring 2014 poetry titles). Are we crazy? About the art of poetry, yes. From the poetics of stuttering in Jordan Scott's Blert, to the scientific fantasia of a.rawlings's Wide slumber for lepidopterists, to the chubby sonnets in David McGimpsey's Li'l Bastard, chbooks.com has verse to suit your fancy.

Spring Launch

Here at Coach House Books, we've got more ink than the combined bodies of Motley Crüe. So, on Thursday, April 3 (tomorrow!), we're turningThe Garrison (1197 Dundas St. West) into a virtual literary tattoo parlour for new and exciting literature. We'll preview new fiction and poetry titles that we think are hella-tight, so come on by:

We've got new books from André Alexis (Pastoral), Élise Turcotte and Rhonda Mullins (Guyana), Sina Queyras (MxT), Brecken Hancock (Broom Broom) and Jen Currin (School). The authors and translators will be there to read you short passages from each that are likely to tattoo themselves on your hot little brains. We'll even have specially made temporary tattoos with which you can showcase your Coach House loyalty. (In fact, you can take that temporary tattoo down to the shop and get a custom sleeve done!)

A couple days later, we do it all again in Montreal. On Sunday, April 6, at Le Cagibi (5490 St. Laurent), authors Sina Queyras, Brecken Hancock, Jen Currin and Élise Turcotte (with Rhonda Mullins) will read from their amazing new books for a Quebec audience. So, in both Toronto and Montreal, you'll get the chance to emblazon yourself with the Coach House spring titles. (If interested, RSVP on Facebook here.)
